Your Facebook Fanpage is Killing Your Brand
Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, there’s a little social media site called Facebook and it’s got a lot of people using it night and day, 24 hours a day, every day.
Facebook is a place where family and friends can keep in touch with one another, leave messages for one another, and even follow their own wonderful timelines (something new that Facebook introduced, that some like and some do not) and of course you can while away the hours playing games before you have to retire for the evening.
Now, if you happen to own your own business and you’re looking for a way to build your business’s brand on the web, well you can’t go wrong with a Facebook Fan Page…or can you?
Facebook offers any business, big or small the opportunity to build awareness about their business and its products and services through a business’s own Facebook Fan page.
Fan pages are great ways to promote items, events and keep the masses informed about your company’s goings on, and it’s also a way to hold conversations with your customers.
Or at least it could be when it’s properly maintained by someone in your organization…what’s that?
You weren’t aware that you had to maintain a Facebook Fan page on a regular basis?
Well, if you want to keep your customers happy, then you should at least take a look at the page every few days to see if somebody actually left a comment there either good or bad, and respond to it.
I recently (last Thursday & Friday actually) had a very eye opening experience with two local plumbing and heating companies, and I left comments on both of these companies’ fan pages, and guess what?
Several days later neither company has responded to the comments I left, and you know why?
Because neither company takes the time and effort to update their fan pages regularly. The one page seems to let updates go for at least 15-20 days, and the other page doesn’t update at all, it’s just an informational page about the company.
Folks if you are trying to brand your business using a Facebook fan page this way then don’t expect a huge ROI from your time spent…because you’re doing it all wrong.
Here are a few things that you absolutely have to do in order to build your business brand with your fan page:
- Update your page regularly
- Respond to customer questions
- Address customer complaints as soon as possible
- Make sure your page is a fair representation of your business
The two businesses that I refer to are missing the boat big time. Because they are not putting the time and effort that’s needed to keep their fan page fresh and updated they will not get enough ROI from their page, making their having a page in the first place meaningless.
Follow these steps I’ve laid out for you, and you can reap the benefits of having a Facebook Fan page, but if you let that page go for any given length of time without a few updates, don’t expect much in the way of traffic to your business site…or much business period.
Do you have a Facebook Fan page that’s killing your business? Don’t waste another moment…fill out that contact form below and let me start working with you to get a better ROI from your Facebook Fan page marketing efforts.
